About

Therapy focused on your goals and strengths

I am a clinical social worker with 9+ years of experience helping clients through emotional distress and life challenges. My approach is based on the idea that everyone has the capacity to change and to solve problems, and that my role as therapist is to help a client identify and choose how to respond to their feelings about their situation. I rely on the person-centered approach to psychotherapy, supplemented with techniques and ideas drawn from acceptance and commitment therapy. I’m also inspired by the mindfulness-based idea that we can learn to live with difficult thoughts and feelings by intentionally choosing how to respond to them. I work with clients to identify specific focus areas and goals to work on, and return to these each session. We will periodically review your goals and evaluate whether we are making progress. I want to see you achieve the change you want, not continue therapy indefinitely. You can expect from me: • Acceptance  • Empathy • A calm, level presence • Clear, direct communication • An approach that will gently encourage you to identify and express your feelings and thoughts I work with individual adult clients in the state of Maryland. I have a special interest in, and extensive experience with, working with older adults, people with serious and chronic illness, and caregivers. I also have an interest in working with people with sexually diverse identities. I’d be happy to discuss with you to see if I would be a good fit for you - please feel free to give me a call or send a secure message.
